Established in 2010, Miro Forestry & Timber Products provides Plywood, Edge Glued Panels, CCA Treated Poles and related forest products to partners and clients in West Africa and around the world. Headquartered from the UK, Miro is fully committed to delivering high quality products produced from the company’s sustainable timber plantations and factories in West Africa.
Miro has approximately 20,000 hectares of dedicated forest plantations established through its own planting activities and employs more than 2,000 people. Our plantations and certain of our wood processing operations are Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC™) certified, meaning we voluntarily comply with the international gold standard of responsible forest management. (Note: the above is Miro wording)
Forestry Solutions Africa started consulting to Miro in 2016 by conducting an FSC© gap analysis and revising Forest Management Plans for their Ghana and Sierra Leone forests to meet FSC© requirements. We also provided consultancy on their management systems developing a number of managerial procedures and documents for both their forest and Chain of Custody processing sites. We have also assisted staff in their development of Health and Safety risk assessments, Environmental Risk Assessments, Conversion Assessments and conducting High Conservation Value Assessments
We have maintained a strong relationship with Miro over the years based on a shared passion for Africa, developing responsible sustainable forest based businesses that provide employment, social upliftment and generate revenue in West Africa. We continue to engage on innovations that drive our individual missions.
